FAQ
Questions ISPs ask us
What is an ISP?
Independent Service Providers run FedEx Ground delivery routes under contract. ISPs employ the drivers and helpers who cover those routes, and carry the HR responsibilities that come with them.
What is a BC?
A BC, or business contact, is someone the ISP designates to run day-to-day operations and communicate with FedEx on the ISP's behalf, such as an operations manager. Your authorized officer decides what each BC can access.
Do you replace my payroll provider?
No. We work alongside your payroll provider — ADP or any other — setting up income withholding orders, reviewing pay records, and keeping pay compliance clean. If you need a provider, we can help you choose and set one up.
Do you handle health insurance enrollment and payroll deductions?
Yes. With Driver Compliance and Full HR Department, we onboard employees into your health care plans and remove them when they leave, and we set up the matching deductions in payroll — in ADP or your provider of choice — so premiums are withheld correctly from every check.
Are you affiliated with FedEx?
No. RouteHR is an independent company and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by FedEx Corporation or its subsidiaries. FedEx is a registered trademark of FedEx Corporation.
Do you provide legal advice?
No. RouteHR provides HR administration and consulting services. For legal questions — attorney letters, claims, litigation — we help you organize facts and documentation and work with your attorney.
How fast can we get started?
Most operations start within a week: a 15-minute call to scope your needs, a short onboarding of your current driver files and forms, and then we take over the HR queue.
Can you help us hire for peak?
Yes. Recruiting and interview scheduling are part of the lifecycle — including First Advantage application tracking and screening orders, so drivers are eligible to be badged and ready before their first route.
Do you manage First Advantage for us?
Yes. With Driver Compliance and Full HR Department, RouteHR manages the First Advantage portal for you: tracking new applications, ordering required background checks, drug screens and employment checks, monitoring progress, and uploading medical certifications and cards. FedEx files the yearly MVR pull; we proactively update your DOT medical certifications and driver's licenses directly into First Advantage so your drivers stay qualified and badges stay active.
Do you manage CentralQuals for us?
CentralQuals is where we fix problems with a driver's qualification. With Driver Compliance and Full HR Department, we log into CentralQuals, work the issue, and get it cleared so your driver can stay on the road.
Do you handle vehicle MMRs?
Yes. Every vehicle on your contract needs a Monthly Maintenance Record by the 20th of the following month. With Driver Compliance and Full HR Department, RouteHR prepares them and keeps your fleet on schedule.
Can you pull VEDR footage after an accident?
Yes. When there's an issue with a driver hitting a car — or any incident FedEx asks about — we pull the VEDR (vehicle event data recorder) footage from your trucks and submit it to FedEx when requested. You don't have to hunt down video or file it yourself while a claim or attorney letter is sitting on your desk.
Do you work outside Michigan?
Not right now. RouteHR serves FedEx Ground ISPs operating in Michigan, so every policy and form is built for Michigan employment law.
What happens if a driver goes inactive?
A driver who goes 90 days without dispatch activity can be made inactive and must requalify, including background, driving history, and drug screening, plus a new badge photo. We watch for this every week and flag drivers to you before it happens.
Can you help us start a new contract?
Yes. We build the compliance packet, help complete your service provider profile, and track your insurance certificates so everything is ready before stand-up.
Who makes the final decisions?
You do. As the employer, you have sole authority over hiring, discipline, pay, and termination. RouteHR prepares the documents, keeps the records, and gives you HR guidance.
